CRESSIDA KENNEDY—ON MIRRORS, ART AND DESIGN

Cressida Kennedy’s creative energy has long found great success, exercised in the design of spaces for all kinds of use. Here she works collaboratively with tradespeople and artisans, a unique platform to bring distinct worlds together. Now, Kennedy takes this signature approach to another place—the making of bespoke and artful mirrors.

These art objects are one-of-a-kind and are crafted by hand from fine glass and natural brass. Her ongoing series is largely informed by her clients and collectors—her pieces are often commissioned to respond to certain dynamics or settings. As such, the works take on a site-specific mode, responsive to the contours and qualities of their intended destinations. Cressida keenly acknowledges the interdisciplinary nature of these methods, engaging strategies typical of art-making and industrial design simultaneously. Her creations straddle interesting ground between these studies, using their overlaps to productive and dazzling ends.
